Crawford race car and Motec
July 30, 2007
David at Crawford sent me an email outlining the goodies on the race car and the Motec data acquisition computer. Purchasing a race car is not like purchasing a street car. Almost every part on the car has to be picked. For example, the shocks, transmission, wheels, seat, steering wheel and so on can change. Also the data acquisition is very custom. There are 100s of data points that these computers can log. Crawford needs to know what we want to log before they build our race car because the wiring harness needs to be build in. I have some questions about what David sent me but overall it is good. I’m ready to get this going.
Menards Conference Call
July 24, 2007
We had our conference call with Ron of Nissan Motorsports and Chris of Menards. We learned a lot about Menards Infiniti engines and I think we will go with them. I think G3 and I need to go up to Indy to meet with Chris and John Menards. We need to have a good relationship with Mr. Menards. He is a very powerful person in the racing world.
Menards Engines
July 18, 2007
Menards built the Infiniti race engines for Team HLM. So we wanted to talk to them about purchasing engines from them. G3 setup a conference call on Tuesday July 24 with Menards and Nissan. It will be interesting to find out what is happening with Menards.
G3 Driving Experience
July 16, 2007
This is my first G3 Driving Experience as an employee of G3 Motorsports. It went really good. All the guys that showed up had a great time. I was a little disappointed that some people didn’t show but that is just the way it is. I want everyone to take the opportunity to drive on a real race track. We are the only dealer in the world doing this and I just don’t understand why someone would not do it. I guess I’m a little bias.
Jani-King lunch meeting
July 12, 2007
George and I met up with Robert at the Jani-King office. We spent about 20 mins in his office before went to lunch at Two Rows. Robert was impressed with what we are doing racing wise and our plan to bring business. We explained our relationship with Chase Towers and I think he was blown away. After we drove back to the office, Robert and I had a moment to talk alone. He said that he still has some budget left and that we should put something together. He has no idea how much he can spend but we will need to bring some type of deal. He said that he would be available to meet with anyone we bring to the table. I think the meeting went great!!
Jani-King
July 9, 2007
I have been trying to get Jani-King to sponsor me for years. I was really close when I was racing stock cars but I lost it to another team. They just gave Jani-King the sponsorship for one year if they would sponsor them for the next year. That was tough to take at the time. I have been working on another opportunity with them and I wanted to talk to them about it. I finalized a lunch meeting today with Jani-King. I think we have something to offer but you just never know how it will go over.
Brake pads
July 9, 2007
I received an email from Mike at Federal Mogul and he said that they found the backing plate. This is really good because we will not have to pay any tooling costs.
Racing
July 8, 2007
I watched some races today and it really got me in the spirit of racing. It has been so long since I was in a position to feel this way. I’m ready to go racing!!
Rain Rain
July 7, 2007
It didn’t rain today and it was sunny. How weird is that? I took the opportunity to do a long run (12 miles). It felt really good.
4th of July
July 4, 2007
It’s the 4th of July. Not a bad holiday at all. I spent the morning working out. I got lucky with the rain. I ran about 5 miles and at the end I was watching the rain move in. I just made it back to my place as the skies opened up. That afternoon Terah, my girlfriend, and I went to her parent’s house for a BBQ. Her parents alway do big BBQs. Who doesn’t love that on the 4th of July?
