Grand-Am

What is grand american?
Grand-Am is the most competitive professional road racing championship in North America. It was created from the masterminds behind NASCAR.
Bill France, Jr. and Jim France inherited control of NASCAR in 1992 upon their father’s death. The France brothers pushed NASCAR beyond its small-time Southern roots into a nationwide billion-dollar conglomerate. The France brothers then felt that they could bring this successful formula to sports car road racing.
In 1999, they founded the Grand-Am Road Racing series. Grand-Am operates several racing divisions headlined by the premier Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. The 15-event schedule, which is anchored by the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, includes two divisions – the Daytona Prototypes and GT class.
They designed the rules to promote cost-effective race cars in which technology is carefully controlled to ensure close racing and approximate parity between different chassis and engines. The France NASCAR formula worked. There has been a dramatic growth of TV viewership and attendance. In the past three years, the media value has increased 209%, making Grand-Am the fastest growing racing series in North America.
The series is centered around the 24 Hours of Daytona, but also includes a wide variety of American, Canadian, and Mexican tracks. The Grand-Am series also supports NASCAR on several race weekends. Many high profile drivers from NASCAR and Indy car compete in Grand-Am races. Drivers such as: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, Helio Castroneves, Sam Hornish, Jr. Famous actors including Patrick Dempsey, Paul Newman, and Tim Allen have also competed in the Grand-Am series.

Motorsport Ranch
September 8, 2008
MotorSport Ranch is the first of its kind – a Country Club for motoring enthusiasts – including sports cars, race cars, and motorcycles. Established in 1996, the Ranch introduced and pioneered this new concept. Just as a golf country club centers its activities around a golf course, this club centers around a purpose-built road racing course. Two courses, actually, as a second road course has been added to the facility.
Think of MotorSport Ranch as a place that its members go to satisfy that “need for speed”. Many people own a sports or high performance car, or even a vintage race car. The Ranch is a place to explore the potential of these cars and for the drivers to develop and practice their skills. The Ranch offers convenience and accessability for its members who do are able to treat performance driving as a sport or a hobby.
- Practice driving skills on one of two road racing courses, a 1.7 mile and a 1.3 mile circuit
- Attend performance and safety driving schools
- Conduct a business meeting, then take your client for hot laps
- Participate in “gentlemen’s racing”
- Store your automobile at “The Ranch”
- Have your car professionally maintained
The facility is also home to numerous sports car related buisinesses catering to the enthusiasts.
MotorSport Ranch exists primarily for the enjoyment of its members, but a limited amount of time will also be made available to car clubs for their events.

Quality and Performance
For over 60 years, Toyo has been a world leader in the development of advanced technology in the design and production of tires. Toyo has an excellent reputation for building high-quality tires at a competitive price. Toyo product range includes everything from racing tires, ultra-high performance street tires, a great selection of light truck and off-road tires, and broad line tires for passenger cars.
Toyo Tires has been voted #1 in product quality for 8 years running in the annual Tire Review magazine survey of independent tire dealers – passenger/light truck segment. For a reprint of the survey highlights, call 877-299-8696.
Technology and Innovation
The same technology that makes Toyo tires perform under the grueling punishment of the track is engineered into every one of our tires. You can be confident that no matter how sudden the stop or sharp the turn, your Toyo tires will let you handle it like a pro.
Even before we build a tire for testing, our engineers examine the design using our revolutionary “T mode” computer analysis. Changes in the contact area between a moving tire and the road can be simulated and measured moment to moment in variable driving conditions. Those constant changes in contact area are important to you because they ultimately affect a tire’s performance.
Confidence In Our Products
Visit one of the hundreds of dealers nationwide to find the Toyo tire that’s right for you and take advantage of our “Experience the Difference in Quality Trial Offer.” If you are not completely satisfied with the performance of our tires, return them to the dealer for a full refund or replacement – even the choice of refund or replacement is yours. Visit your Toyo dealer for complete details and a list of eligible tires.

NASCAR Holdings Announces Plan to Acquire Grand-Am
September 5, 2008
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2008) – NASCAR Holdings, the operating entity that includes the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, announced today the plans to acquire Grand-Am, North America’s premier road racing series.
The sports car sanctioning body will work closely with NASCAR in the new relationship which brings together two of the biggest auto racing entities in the country.
While both organizations will continue to operate independently, resources such as communications, marketing, research and public relations will be shared. One example of the benefits of the relationship is Grand-Am having a presence on the NASCAR media site at www.nascarmedia.com.
“This combination of resources will benefit Grand-Am and NASCAR, their competitors and fans as the two companies work together to enhance the two sports,” said Jim France, Grand-Am founder and Vice Chairman of NASCAR.
Founded in 1999, Grand-Am operates several racing divisions headlined by the premier Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. The 15-event schedule, which is anchored by the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, includes two divisions – the Daytona Prototypes and GT class.
“I think this is great news,” said Wayne Taylor, owner of the 2005 championship winning No. 10 SunTrust Racing team and two-time winner of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. “All of the teams have been waiting for this for a long time. Finally, we can now move to the next level.”
Since its inception, Grand-Am has helped stabilize the American sports car scene. Its rise has included a rebirth of the successful Rolex 24 event, which has seen tremendous growth since coming under the Grand-Am umbrella in 2000. A variety of drivers from other racing disciplines, including NASCAR stars such as Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty, Bobby Labonte, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon, have helped in the growth of Grand-Am’s popularity. Prominent NASCAR team owners Chip Ganassi and Richard Childress also field Grand-Am operations.
